A Wrentham man has been arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse material, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

Wael Isreb, 66, was taken into custody and faces one count of possessing child pornography. He appeared in federal court in Boston and is set for a detention hearing on September 4, 2025.

Charging documents state that authorities received information about files shared via the Kik messaging application. A search at Isreb’s home led to forensic analysis of his electronic devices, which allegedly contained about 26 images and 115 videos of child sexual abuse material. One video reportedly depicted the rape of a child estimated to be three or four years old. Court records indicate that Isreb was convicted in Massachusetts state court in 2021 for possessing child pornography.

If convicted, Isreb faces a minimum sentence of 10 years and up to 20 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release, and a fine up to $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to federal guidelines and statutes.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national effort started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative brings together federal, state, and local resources to investigate and prosecute offenders as well as identify victims. United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England announced the charges. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Hawkins from the Major Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution.

“The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
