A West Wareham man has been sentenced in federal court for crimes involving child sexual abuse material. Joshua Roe, 38, received a five-year prison sentence followed by five years of supervised release. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy.
Roe pleaded guilty in January 2025 to one count each of receipt and possession of child pornography. He has been held in federal custody since his arrest in September 2024.
Authorities searched Roe’s home on September 6, 2024, and recovered approximately 11 electronic devices. Forensic examinations revealed images and videos containing child sexual abuse material on at least seven of the devices, including files that had been deleted.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Michael Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations; and Chief Walter Correia of the Wareham Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus from the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child exploitation and abuse by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to locate offenders and protect victims.
