A Springfield man has been sentenced for possessing a firearm and ammunition after being convicted of a felony. Sean Krasin, 31, was sentenced to 80 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release by United States District Court Judge Mark Mastroianni. In January 2025, Krasin admitted guilt to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The incident occurred on June 20, 2022, when Krasin was found with a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. He attempted to evade arrest by jumping from the second-floor parking garage at the Holyoke Mall and running through an adjacent wooded area. At that time, he was on supervised release following a 2018 heroin trafficking conviction from federal court in Springfield, which had resulted in a five-year prison sentence.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the sentencing alongside Scott Riordan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms in New England; Colonel Geoffrey Nobel of the Massachusetts State Police; and Brian Keenan, Chief of the Holyoke Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse from the Springfield Branch Office prosecuted the case.
