A Salvadoran national, Arsenio Valladares, 45, was sentenced in federal court in Boston for illegally reentering the United States after being deported. U.S. District Court Judge Julia E. Kobick sentenced Valladares to time served, which amounted to about five months in prison, and imposed one year of supervised release. Valladares now faces deportation proceedings.

Valladares pleaded guilty in July 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien after being indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2025. He had previously been removed from the United States on or about April 23, 2008, but later returned without permission.

Before his removal, Valladares had convictions for several offenses including assault and battery with a deadly weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, operating under the influence, larceny, and malicious destruction of property. In November 2024, federal immigration authorities were alerted to his presence in Massachusetts when his fingerprints were collected during criminal proceedings. Immigration authorities detained him on March 18, 2025.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Olivia Benjamin prosecuted the case.
