A Salvadoran national living in Lynn has been indicted for allegedly reentering the United States after being deported. Emelio Neftaly Pineda, 46, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Authorities arrested Pineda on June 12, 2025. He is expected to be arraigned in federal court in Boston at a later date.
According to charging documents, Pineda was previously deported around July 20, 2016 following a felony conviction.
If convicted of unlawful reentry after a felony conviction, Pineda could face up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine up to $250,000. After serving any imposed sentence, he may be subject to deportation again. Sentencing decisions are made by a federal district court judge who considers the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston announced the charges. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Riley from the Human Trafficking & Civil Rights Unit is prosecuting the case.
“The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
