A Rockland, Massachusetts man has been sentenced to 83 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Lamont Boswell, 40, received the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV on December 3, 2025. He will also serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.

Boswell pleaded guilty in September 2025 to one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition while being a convicted felon and to violating the terms of his supervised release.

The charges stem from an incident on April 2, 2025, when law enforcement officers conducted a wellness check on Boswell, who was found passed out in the driver’s seat of his parked car. During the check, officers discovered a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun loaded with thirteen rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

At the time of this offense, Boswell was under federal supervision following a previous conviction in 2021 for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. In that earlier case, he had been sentenced to 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release after being found with a loaded firearm while driving.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley stated: “United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Thomas Greco, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division made the announcement.” She noted that special assistance came from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Scituate Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred M. Wyshak III prosecuted the case.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice that aims to combat illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime by coordinating resources across various task forces.
