A federal grand jury in Boston has indicted a Mexican national for illegal reentry into the United States following deportation. Ausencio Flores Salazar, 34, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He is currently held in immigration custody and is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court on June 11, 2025.

The indictment states that Flores Salazar was deported to Mexico in 2019. It is alleged that he unlawfully returned to the United States at some point after his removal and was encountered around May 12, 2025.

If convicted, Flores Salazar could face up to two years in prison, followed by one year of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, he would be subject to deportation upon completing any sentence imposed. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen M. Noto from the Worcester Branch Office is handling the prosecution.

It should be noted that the details within the charging documents are allegations at this stage. Flores Salazar remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
