A Honduran citizen has been sentenced for reentering the United States after previously being deported. Jose Denis Guardado-Paz, 40, received a sentence of time served—about 43 days in prison—on August 4, 2025. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy. Following his sentence, Guardado-Paz is now subject to deportation proceedings.

Earlier in the hearing, Guardado-Paz pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He had been arrested on May 5, 2025, and was indicted by a federal grand jury in June 2025.

Guardado-Paz had last been deported from the United States on October 18, 2019. Authorities said that after this removal he returned to the country without authorization.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandra W. Amrhein of the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.”
