A member of the Boston-based H-Block gang was sentenced in federal court for drug distribution and firearms offenses. Jerry Gray, 28, of Roxbury, received a sentence of 51 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. In April 2025, Gray pleaded guilty to charges including distribution and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Gray was among ten H-Block members and associates charged in August 2024 after a multi-year investigation that began in 2021. The investigation responded to increased gang-related drug trafficking, shootings, and violence. Authorities seized over 500 grams of cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and more than 20,000 doses of drug-laced paper during the operation.

Court documents state that Gray sold crack cocaine to a cooperating witness in February 2024. In March 2024, he stole money from the same witness during a controlled purchase. When arrested in August 2024, law enforcement found a Glock pistol and several rounds of ammunition at his residence. At the time of these offenses, Gray was on probation for two prior firearm-related convictions.

The H Block Street Gang is described as one of Boston’s most feared gangs. It originated as the Humboldt Raiders in Roxbury during the 1980s before re-emerging as H Block in the 2000s. Members have been involved in violent confrontations with law enforcement, including an incident in 2015 when an officer was shot at close range.

Gray is the fourth defendant sentenced among those charged in this case.

The investigation received support from several agencies including Massachusetts State Police; Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office; Massachusetts Department of Corrections; and police departments from Braintree, Quincy, Randolph and Watertown. Assistant United States Attorney John T. Dawley from the Organized Crime & Gang Unit and Jeremy Franker from the Justice Department’s Violent Crime & Racketeering Section prosecuted these cases.

The case was investigated under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which targets high-level criminal organizations using coordinated efforts across multiple agencies through a prosecutor-led approach. Authorities remind that details contained within charging documents are allegations and that remaining defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
