A Guatemalan national was sentenced on Mar. 16 in federal court in Boston for unlawfully reentering the United States after being deported.

The case involves Jasson Humberto Marroquin Moro, age 30, who received a sentence of time served—approximately four months in prison—and now faces deportation proceedings. U.S. District Court Judge Myong J. Joun handed down the sentence after Marroquin Moro pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He had been indicted by a federal grand jury in June 2025.

According to court records, Marroquin Moro was found in the United States on or about May 6, 2025, despite having previously been deported to Guatemala on or about June 3, 2014.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, announced the sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lauren Maynard and Julissa Walsh from the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.

The sentencing highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address cases involving individuals who return to the United States after removal.
