A Guatemalan national residing unlawfully in Lawrence, Massachusetts, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for reentering the United States after deportation. Marcos Riquiac-Ordonez, 41, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien following his arrest by immigration authorities on May 12, 2025.

The indictment states that Riquiac-Ordonez was deported from the United States on April 26, 2016. It is alleged that he illegally returned to the country without permission sometime after his removal in April 2016.

The charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Upon completion of any imposed sentence, the defendant is subject to deportation. Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston announced the indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandra W. Amrhein from the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

“The details contained in the charging documents are allegations,” it was stated in an official announcement. “The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
