A Guatemalan national, Mynor Lopez-Lopez, also known as Mynor Alexander Lopez, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for allegedly reentering the United States illegally after being deported. The 37-year-old was charged with one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien.
Lopez was arrested by immigration authorities on May 7, 2025. He is scheduled to appear in federal court in Boston on June 26, 2025. According to the indictment, Lopez was previously deported from the United States on March 24, 2009. It is alleged that he returned to the country without permission sometime after his removal.
The charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, followed by one year of supervised release and a fine that could reach $250,000. If convicted and sentenced, Lopez would face deportation upon completing his sentence. Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and applicable statutes.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Zacks from the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
It is important to note that these charges are allegations at this stage; Lopez remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
