Dorchester man pleads guilty to illegal firearm possession as convicted felon

A Dorchester resident has pleaded guilty to federal charges of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Robert Campbell, 36, entered his plea before U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin, who set sentencing for January 13, 2027.

Campbell was charged in January 2025 and indicted by a federal grand jury the following month. According to authorities, on January 28, 2025, in Dorchester, Campbell was found with a Glock 32 handgun and various rounds of ammunition despite having a prior felony conviction.

The law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition. The offense carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by the court based on federal guidelines.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Thomas Greco, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives made the announcement. Assistant United States Attorneys Mark Grady and Allegra Flamm of the Major Crimes Unit are prosecuting the case.”
