A Dominican national living in Lawrence, Massachusetts, was sentenced in federal court for illegally reentering the United States after having been deported. Santo Beato Aybar-Aybar, 49, received a sentence of time served—five months—from U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy. Following his sentencing, Aybar-Aybar is now subject to deportation proceedings.

Aybar-Aybar pleaded guilty in June 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien after being indicted in April 2025. According to court records, he had previously been deported from the United States three times, most recently on or about September 21, 2021. After that removal, authorities say he returned to the country without permission.

Officials noted that while unlawfully residing in the United States, Aybar-Aybar was convicted of several crimes. These include a 2013 conviction in New Hampshire for possessing cocaine with intent to distribute and a 2021 conviction in Massachusetts for possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute. Immigration authorities located him during a law enforcement operation in Lawrence.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley stated: “United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Hawkins of the Major Crime Unit prosecuted the case.
