A federal grand jury in Boston has indicted Eddy Rafael Matos-Lara, a 35-year-old Dominican national, on charges of forcibly resisting arrest during an immigration operation. According to the indictment, the incident took place on June 16, 2025, when Matos-Lara allegedly assaulted or interfered with federal officers who were performing their official duties.
Matos-Lara faces one count of forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, intimidating, or interfering with federal officers. The offense carries a potential sentence of up to eight years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing decisions will be made by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England. Assistant U.S. Attorney David G. Tobin from the Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
