A Dominican national living unlawfully in Boston has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for reentering the United States after deportation. Danny Miguel Tejada Hernandez, 29, received the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy and will also serve two years of supervised release. After completing his sentence, Tejada Hernandez faces deportation.

Tejada Hernandez pleaded guilty in June 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He was indicted by a federal grand jury earlier that year in February.

According to court records, Tejada Hernandez entered the United States at an unknown time and location without legal permission. On March 9, 2020, he was convicted in Chelsea District Court on charges related to possession and distribution of controlled substances. Following these convictions, he was deported in August 2021.

After his removal from the country, Tejada Hernandez returned unlawfully. He was later convicted again on February 1, 2024, in Suffolk County Superior Court for additional drug-related offenses and is currently serving a three-year state prison term for those crimes.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica Soto of the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted case.”
