Brazilian national sentenced to prison for unlicensed firearm sales in Massachusetts

A Brazilian national residing illegally in Framingham has been sentenced for his involvement in the illegal sale of firearms and conspiracy. Victor Santos DeSouza, 22, received a 14-month prison sentence from U.S. District Judge Richard G. Stearns. Following his sentence, DeSouza faces deportation.

DeSouza pleaded guilty in November 2025 to one count of conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing firearms without a license and one count of engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a license.

According to authorities, between May and August 2023, De Aguiar Ferreira sold two pistols—including one with a large capacity magazine—to a cooperating witness for cash, despite not having the required federal license.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley stated: “United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Thomas Greco, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division; Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England; and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations made the announcement today.”

The investigation received assistance from Massachusetts State Police as well as Framingham and Revere Police Departments. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael J. Crowley and John Reynolds from the Organized Crime & Gang Unit.
