Brazilian national sentenced to prison for selling firearms and fentanyl in Massachusetts

A Brazilian national living unlawfully in Carver, Massachusetts, was sentenced on April 22 in federal court for selling firearms and fentanyl during 2024. Talles Provette De Faria, age 35, received a sentence of 32 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He is also subject to deportation proceedings after completing his sentence.

Provette De Faria pleaded guilty in December 2025 to dealing firearms without a license, conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing firearms without a license, and distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. He was originally charged by criminal complaint in September 2024.

According to the announcement from United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and other law enforcement officials, Provette De Faria sold four firearms as well as fentanyl over several meetings with a cooperating witness throughout Eastern Massachusetts. On April 24, he sold two pistols and ammunition at a Home Depot parking lot in Plymouth; on May 15, he sold fentanyl at a parking lot in Barnstable. In subsequent interactions through June, he sent pictures and videos offering additional pistols and rifles for sale while indicating an out-of-state source for the weapons.

On September 19—just before his arrest—Provette De Faria sold another pistol along with a rifle and an ammunition magazine loaded with rounds; one pistol had previously been reported stolen. The investigation involved cooperation from federal agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; Homeland Security Investigations; U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations; Drug Enforcement Administration; as well as state police departments.
