A Brazilian national residing unlawfully in Framingham has been sentenced in federal court in Boston for reentering the United States illegally after deportation. Rafael De Jesus-Ribeiro, aged 39, received a sentence of time served, approximately 56 days, and one year of supervised release from U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani. He is now subject to deportation proceedings.

On May 30, 2025, De Jesus-Ribeiro pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. His previous deportation occurred on July 17, 2019, following an illegal border crossing in Texas where he was apprehended by Border Patrol and initially provided false documentation. After his removal in July 2019, De Jesus-Ribeiro returned to the United States without authorization.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director at Boston’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Hawkins from the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
