A Brazilian national, Wadriam Jose Ferreira Do Carmo, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation. The 23-year-old was residing in Milford without legal authorization.

Ferreira Do Carmo is charged with unlawful reentry of a deported alien, following a previous charge by criminal complaint on May 19, 2025. His arrest history includes being apprehended by United States Border Patrol on June 2, 2023, which led to his deportation on July 20, 2023. However, he allegedly reentered the country at an unknown date and location without inspection.

Authorities became aware of Ferreira Do Carmo’s presence in the U.S. again on May 6, 2024, when he was arrested by local law enforcement in Sherborn due to an outstanding warrant. Surveillance conducted on May 19, 2025, revealed that he was living in Milford. During this operation, he reportedly attempted to evade law enforcement upon arrival at his residence.

The charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, Ferreira Do Carmo faces deportation after serving any sentence imposed. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Patricia H. Hyde from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston; and John E. King, Chief of the Milton Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus is prosecuting the case.

The allegations detailed are currently unproven as Ferreira Do Carmo is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
