A Boston man has admitted guilt in a federal court to possessing child sexual abuse material. Bryan Horgan, 59, who is a Level 3 sex offender, entered his plea before U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani. The sentencing is scheduled for September 18, 2025.

Horgan was indicted by a federal grand jury after being charged and arrested on April 26, 2024. He has been in custody since his arrest. Authorities identified Horgan as the owner of a Microsoft account that uploaded the illicit material. A search of his residence revealed electronic devices containing video files of child sexual abuse material, some depicting infants.

Previously convicted in Suffolk Superior Court for various offenses including rape of a child and possession of child pornography, Horgan now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years due to his past convictions. The maximum sentence could extend to twenty years with additional supervised release and fines.

The announcement came from United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division. The Boston Police Department also provided significant assistance in the case which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Soto.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
